I was bored! Kept on checking the progress bar to see how much was left. That is never a good sign. I could not, in good faith, recommend this movie. Possible that it is just me, but as I point out above it has only garnered a 67% IMDb.com rating.
Yes, it is dark — worthy of an ‘Edgar Allan Poe‘ tale. But, I think it tried to be too clever, cutesy & DIFFERENT. The faces of all the characters were made up to make them look like caricatures. That grated on me.
A decent enough story but it wasn’t told well. I just don’t know. It never sat well with I. I was really looking forward to watching it — given that I do like Poe’s stories. Yes, I know that this is not one of his — but about him.
Bottom line & this is just my opinion. Give it a miss. There are much better movies or ways to spend 2 hours of your life. SMILE.
