Click to ENLARGE. I said this in 2016 too. They have the LATEST & GREATEST technology.

Yep, & ALAS, flashes in my RIGHT eye — this time. In November last year it was in my left. At least this year I had a slightly better idea of what to expect & was not as panicked as last time — which was good because this time, as is my luck, it was on a Saturday. BUT, I lucked out & they, to my gratitude, helped me out — yet again, the 2nd time in 13-months.

Flashes, in my peripheral vision (in my right eye (just like micro lightning strikes)) started straight after I got back from my 4-mile morning walk (this time in the rain). I initially thought it was raindrops dripping off my hair. Alas that was not the case.

It was just past 12:30pm on Saturday when I called them. They were closing at 1pm.

I babbled on, & they got the gist. I wanted to be seen as soon as possible. They said ‘come in at 9am Monday‘! Wow. Wow. Wow. I could not have asked for any better given that it was a weekend. They also told me that I could go to an ER BUT I knew that that would be a waste of time.

When I had had my (very successful) cataract surgery, a year and a half ago, I had been WARNED to be on the lookout for flashes & floaters. So, as soon as I start seeing them, I know I need to be on alert.

I was there at 8:50.

I was so relieved to be checked out so quickly & PROFICIENTLY by Dr. Tyler Webber.

Last year, in my left eye, I had ‘Vitreous Detachment’ (due to old age) as opposed to anything more serious. That was a relief though anything can now happen …

This time around, things are a tad better. No detachment as yet — & they really have the best technology for checking eye-health. Their equipment is so much newer & fancier than in Boston!

I need to stay alert. Monitor my eyes. Well, since last year I have been on the watch.

I would like to SHARE this with YOU. Don’t ignore flashes or floaters in your eyes. They could be the first sign of something bad going on inside your eye. Go see an eye doctor. Go see Dr. Webber & Capital Vision Center if you can.

In closing, let me just stress, that if you are in Central New Hampshire, you cannot go wrong by opting for ‘Capital Vision Center’, Concord, for all your eye care. We do & we are delighted.

“20/20” Audio/eBook By ‘Carl Goodman’ Is Sheer Brilliance, A Tremendous Story — The Author Is A GENIUS!

I am LISTENING to this book, riveted & in absolute awe, on ‘Audible‘ during my daily, 2-hour amble in the morning. WOW. WOW! What a book.

I happened to see it on the Audible ‘Plus Catalog’ (i.e., ‘free’ depending on your Audible membership) & the title ’20/20′ caught my eye. Cataract surgery, this time last year, & that disturbing ‘vitreous detachment‘ on my left eye 3-weeks ago. Anything & everything to do with VISION is of interest to I. This book, actually, does go into a fair amount of detail about cataract lens replacement. I, however, do not think that the ‘Fresnel’ lens he talks about is the same as the Toric lenses I had. I am, however, familiar with Fresnel lenses thanks to my interest in lighthouses.

The story is very clever & gripping. I haven’t finished listening to it, BUT I wanted to give you all a heads up. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

However, what is more amazing is the author, ‘Carl Goodman’. Don’t know him. But, would like to. I think he, like I, is a Brit. But, unlike I, he is a bloody genius. The variety of expertise that he tackles with aplomb, at a degree of detail that is astounding, should leave you in awe. Yes, given my computer background I can follow, appreciate & enjoy all of the computer related jargon — including SQL. But, he covers so many other topics with the same amount of depth & detail. WOW. I am in awe.

I can’t BELIEVE that this book is NOT available as a paperback. I was going to buy a copy for my BRILLIANT cataract surgeon, Dr. Theodor Sauer, as a Christmas present. Maybe I can convince the author to do the paperback. I could even do it for him — given that I can publish paperbacks in my sleep.

Anywho. GREAT BOOK. Check it out. Amazing author. Check him out. I have already downloaded his other book.

I was singing their praises 5.5 years ago. Click image to access my post from 2016.

Click to ENLARGE. I said this in 2016 too. They have the LATEST & GREATEST technology.

We, meaning all 4 of us, have been going to them for years (& years). We think of them, ‘Donna’ in particular, as family. They, all three doctors together & the exceptional support staff, have taken wonderful care of us. We trust them, we respect them & we know they will take care of us.

On Wednesday morning, they, again, proved why we love them & think they are the best.

I was BEYOND panicked. I was having flashes & floaters in my left eye. I have never had flashes or floaters in either of my eyes prior to this. Moreover, when I had had my (very successful) cataract surgery, 11.5 months earlier, I had been WARNED to be on the lookout for flashes & floaters. So, as soon as I started seeing them, I knew that something was not right.

I wanted to be checked out as quickly as possible.

I called Donna as early as I could. She immediately said come over. Dr. Webber will make time to see you.

I went down. They took pictures of my eyes with some fancy (very expensive) machines. They don’t stint on equipment. They have the latest, the greatest & the best. I can tell you that there are ‘fancy’ places in Boston that don’t have anything that comes close. I tell them about what they have in Concord & they say “yes, we have HEARD of such machines!” So, we are FORTUNATE that we can have access to this level of modern technology in Concord. THANK YOU ‘Capital Vision Center’. You folks are the best.

I was so relieved to be checked out so quickly & PROFICIENTLY by Dr. Tyler Webber.

That what I had was ‘Vitreous Detachment’ (due to old age) as opposed to anything more serious was a HUGE relief. I am not out of the woods, BUT at least I am in with a fighting chance. To get that diagnosis, & reassurance, so quickly, in Concord, was WONDERFUL.

In closing, let me just stress, that if you are in Central New Hampshire, you cannot go wrong by opting for ‘Capital Vision Center’, Concord, for all your eye care. We do & we are delighted.

‘Vitreous Detachment’: Eye Condition, Signaled By Flashes & Floaters, That Inflicts The Old, Which Should NOT Be Ignored.

Though it is considered to be common among the old, i.e., those above 60, & mainly ‘harmless’ (much of the time), it is one of those conditions that one must not ignore or take lightly. It can lead to complications or what you think is ‘vitreous detachment‘ could be the hugely more serious ‘retinal detachment‘. It is not something you want to mess around with. Worst case you could lose vision in that eye — permanently. Not something that you probably want to content with.

Seeing flashes of light or floaters in your eye is a sure sign that you might have vitreous detachment. If you habitually have flashes & floaters, & have done so for eons since your youth, then you should be on the lookout for any marked increase.

In my case I was not accustomed to flashes or floaters. Moreover, my amazing cataract surgeon, the unimpeachable Dr. Theodor Sauer, had given me an important heads up earlier this year during a follow-up visit. He said that IF I were to experience any flashes or floaters that I should immediately call ‘OCB‘. I take everything he says seriously. So, when I suddenly noticed light flashes in my left eye this Tuesday evening I immediately knew that something was not right. I LUCKED OUT. My local eye doctor in Concord (of many, many years), i.e., ‘Capital Vision Center‘, & ‘OCB’ both scrambled to help me. I am so grateful. I was in a panic. I was NOT in a fit state to drive to Boston. So, I rushed to Concord. Dr. Tyler Webber, an excellent young doctor, did a comprehensive eye exam. He assured me, showing me all the images, that what I had — for now — was vitreous detachment. That was a relief.

I am NOT out of the woods as yet. I am at high risk for the next 30-days. Then the chances of further complications get smaller. So, I have to weather the next month — fingers crossed. I have to be careful NOT to jar my head too much. I sure will try.

This was, quite literally, an eye opener for I. I did not know about vitreous detachment. I knew a bit about retinal detachment. Hence, this post. My mission is to educate others. Make sure that they know what the signs are. So, please pass this along.
