That “Garmin’s” New ECG (EKG) Capability Is Only (As Yet) Available On The Overpriced ‘Venu 2 PLUS’ Is Stupid & Unacceptable.

I own & wear, 23.4×7, a much more expensive ($999.99) ‘Epix Gen 2
Sapphire Black Titanium. See below. That is my tanned wrist.

The ‘Venu 2 PLUS‘ is a NOTHING watch! When it came out a year ago ALL it offered above what was on the ‘Venu 2’ was voice-commands. I didn’t need voice-commands. So, I didn’t get one. Instead, I kept my Venu 2 as a backup & bought the high-end Epix Gen 2. I like my Epix Gen 2. It is feature rich, robust & looks good.

The Venu 2 PLUS would be a major downgrade for I!

Yes, as I already stated I don’t need ECG. SMILE.

But this decision by Garmin irks me. Kick in the teeth for US their loyal high-end customers.

I am sure that they will be FORCED to add the ECG capability to the Epix 2 & ‘Fenix 7’. They should have done it FIRST. Their most expensive, high-end watches (not counting the ridiculous MARQ range (& before you accuse me of ‘sour grapes’, I did OWN a MARQ & ended up trading it in for a Fenix 6!)

Media Pundits Are Struggling, As Did I , To Justify Upgrading To The New ‘Garmin Fenix 7’ IF You Already Have A ‘Fenix 6’.

I already said it, unequivocally, yesterday: “the new Fenix 7 family came across as under-featured & over-priced“.

I knew others would have a similar problem, if they were being honest, upfront — & NOT in Garmin’s pockets (so to speak) — to justify why a Fenix 6 owner should upgrade to a Fenix 7. A couple even pointed out the same issue that I had re. the touchscreen, i.e., touchscreens can be problematic in wet weather or when you are swimming.

So, I am glad that I was not alone.

You can find more. Just Google.

As with the recent ‘Venu 2 Plus‘, I think Garmin GOOFED again.

Stay tuned. Once ‘Wear OS 3‘ gains traction later on this year, Garmin will be sucking wind like an out-of-shape runner trying to compete in a triathlon.

The NEW Garmin ‘Venu 2 Plus’ At $500 Is Way Too Overpriced By $125 For What It Offers.

I have been steadfast about this since the rumors surfaced last November. IF voice support was the only enhancement, then I was NOT going to be interested. That has proven to be the case. Furthermore, to my amusement, Garmin has opted to way overprice the Venu 2 Plus.

The Venu 2 at $350 (today) is not too badly priced — maybe overpriced by about $25. But, even at $350 the Venu 2, which is a capable, good looking watch, with a GREAT AMOLED display, is competitive.

The Venu 2 Plus at $500 is just a JOKE.

It isn’t as if you can use any of the voice features without a nearby phone. So, it is just the convenience of doing voice from your wrist without having to fish out your phone. I am NOT going to fork out $150 for that. PLUS, they made the Venu 2 Plus smaller than the full-size Venu 2 I wear. So, it is smaller, has worse battery life & costs $150 more. No thanks Garmin.

Garmin is losing its way. The odds are that we will have a Google ‘Pixel’ watch. Plus, ‘Wear OS 3‘ will be available on more watches in the next 6 months. Garmin will get squeezed. I really want to transition to a Wear OS watch. I am all Android bar my watch. I want to rectify that.

So, my 5 year association with Garmin appears to be on thin ice, very thin ice.
