I have BOTH ‘Willow‘ & ‘ESPN+‘ subscriptions for cricket (& just for cricket).

I only watch ESPN+ under duress IF there is some cricket that is ONLY available through them. I even check poor-quality ‘YouTube’ before I opt to watch cricket on ESPN+. They just don’t have a clue — though, of late, they grudgingly provide HIGHLIGHTS for matches involving ‘India‘ (& just India).

On the other hand, cricket is Willow’s main business. Though NOT perfect they do a decent job. You can enjoy watching cricket on Willow.

I wasn’t, at first, a fan of IPL. I only got hooked on it in the last 4 or 5 years. During that time I was forced to watch it on India’s ‘Hotstar’ & ESPN+. ‘Hotstar’ is the PITS. Outright crooks. I will never, ever, ever have anything to do with them. I would rather just watch what I can find on YouTube. As I have already said, ESPN+ is not great.

But, having the IPL on Willow is MAGIC. I am delighted. I am relieved.

I just hope they don’t let me down now that I have raved about how happy & relieved I am. That tends to be just my luck — the Reverse Midas Touch that I have been blessed with. SMILE.

Biden NOT JUST Weak BUT A Hypocrite Too — Severely Limiting Ukraine Refugees To The U.S. (Like ‘7’)!

Click to ENLARGE. Just now from ‘Google News’. So don’t say the ‘Daily Mail’ is biased.

That I am an unashamed daily (actually multiple times a day) reader of the U.K. ‘Daily Mail‘ should be well known to anyone who knows this blog. I started reading the daily mail in my early 20s — when I lived in the U.K. So, the Daily Mail & I go back 40 years. Yes, I know it is a conservative outlet, BUT I trust & respect MY DAILY MAIL over most other news outlets.

Yes, I will readily concede that the ‘7’ they quote might be a tad low, BUT the actual number is NOT going to be 700 or even 70. So, they might not have totally nailed it, but they probably got the gist of it.

This is disgraceful!

There is no other way to characterize this.

Joe Biden is pathetically weak & a hypocrite.

Biden also said this — & yes, it is per MY ‘Daily Mail’ (& here is the link).

Biden was reasonably smart 15 years ago. Today, he is senile, weak, pathetic, a hypocrite. I am DONE with Biden. Let’s Go Brandon!

The U.S. Is Playing An ICC Endorsed International Cricket Series Against Ireland — Right Now. How Amazing.

I still can’t get used to the notion of the U.S.A. playing ICC sanctioned
international cricket matches — & NOT just T20Is. Even ODIs! Wow.

Yes, I know they, i.e., the U.S.A., has played a few matches here & there.

But, BANG, suddenly — now — we have a full-blown series with T20Is & ODIs against Ireland. Yes, it is NOT one of the real BIG names, but Ireland is up there now — one of the 12 Full ICC members with Test playing rights. Wow. So, this is quite serious.

I just can’t get used to it, though way, way back, in the 1980s I did belong to a cricket club, in the U.S., in Massachusetts. Much has happened since, in particular a DRAMATIC increase in sub-Continentals settling in the U.S. I took a quick look at the current U.S. squad. There were three Patels! As far as I can see there are no Sri Lankans. But, this is all good.

When COVID is finally out of the way I should try to go and watch an international match in the U.S. It will be wild. I am happy. More cricket the better. SMILE.

Chile Just Elected A 35 Year Old President, BUT Who Was The Youngest Ever, In The World?

by Anura Guruge

That is pretty young. It was his age, i.e., 35, rather than anything that caught my eye to begin with — even though the gratuitous ‘leftist‘ part did make me smile. Leftist is not always a bad thing. Some folks call ‘Bernie Sanders’ a leftist & he is, for the mots part, good & decent. But, let’s get back to the age.

35, coincidentally, is the STATED minimum age in order to be elected President in the U.S. or to be a Catholic bishop. [In the case of being U.S. President, that 35 refers, alas, to physical age rather than mental. I will leave it at that.]

Who was the youngest U.S. President is kind of a TRICK question. Depends whether you mean elected President or became President. At 43.65 years, ‘John F. Kennedy’ was the youngest elected. ‘Theodore Roosevelt’, who had been V.P., stepped into the Presidency when he was 42.88 years when ‘William McKinley’ was assassinated in 1901. So, the new Chilean President is much younger.

Wikipedia, bless them, has a list of the 10 youngest serving state leaders. Currently the youngest, at 27, is the Captain Regent of ‘San Marino’. [Coincidentally, I mentioned San Marino just last week in another post!] Then it is the Prime Minister of Finland — ‘Sanna Marin‘, who came to office when she was 34. That is impressive. New Zealand’s admirable ‘Jacinda Arden‘, who was elected when she was 37 is 8th on the Wikipedia list. She is quite the lady.

Wikipedia, alas, does NOT have the youngest ever! The best they can currently do is ‘from 1942‘. That is not that useful — PLUS the first 9 are all Kings. That doesn’t count. But, #10 is ‘Baby Doc’, viz. Jean-Claude Duvalier, of Haiti. Hhhmmm. He wasn’t elected & he was NOT a good man. He came to power when he was 19. I will, when I have time, dig into this more.

The youngest Prime Minister of the U.K. was the estimable ‘William Pitt the Younger‘, at age 24.5 in 1783.
