The keyword here is ‘population’. Not 99% of the world, but 99% of the world’s population.

I am NOT going to rehash this. The ever inestimable ‘timeanddate‘ (one of my favorite online resources) has done a great job explaining this. So, I urge you to check out their article. Enjoy.

Tonight, i.e., Saturday, October 9, 2021, it is at its most pleasing & iconic. Venus, resplendent, dangling beneath a sharply demarcated crescent moon. Look to the southwest. You can’t miss the Moon. But, the Moon & Venus will sink below the treeline (& then the horizon) by 8:30pm (Eastern).

Tomorrow, i.e., Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 7:30pm (Eastern) we will still have roughly the same conjunction. Venus, however, much further below the Moon. But, Venus will duck behind the trees by 8pm. Again look to the southwest.

Same general pattern for the next few days, though Venus will sink lower & lower spoiling the conjunction.
