It was using two quarters (i.e., 50 cents) to have two trains on this cute HO layout amuse me for about 6 minutes (I think).

The trains would only ‘go’ if you put in a quarter. No big deal other than that they don’t have a change machine. So, I had to go and SMILE my way into getting one of the stores downstairs into giving me four quarters for a dollar bill.

This was at the ‘Quechee Gorge VillageToy Museum. The museum is quaint & does have a lot of stuff. The HO-scale train layout, shown above, is very well done. Not the largest or the most elaborate I have seen, but it is compelling & sure has a certain je nais se quois. I enjoyed it. The fact that I had the whole museum to myself helped. It was like having my own train set (& as some know, I do have a working n-scale set in my office).

In the end I only used two quarters. I left the other two on top of the coin collector for someone else to enjoy — hopefully a kid (or a kid at heart).

I like the Quechee Gorge Village. I have visited it 3 times already. The place is HUGE. The consignment ‘barn’ that makes up one side is so sprawling, packed & intriguing that it is overwhelming. Just overpowers your senses. I sure plan to visit it again soon.
