My youngest daughter (then 13) & I stumbled upon ‘Vera‘, serendipitously, while browsing ‘Acorn TV‘ for British crime dramas in the ‘Agatha Christie‘ mould. It immediately exceeded expectations. We loved it. We were hooked. My daughter adores ‘Vera’. She has watched all the episodes, from Seasons 1 to 10, at least twice!
I am very partial to the show too. I am somewhat familiar with the ‘Newcastle’ area & I appreciate the quintessential British characters that are portrayed. I only have ONE gripe — the show’s obsession with interracial couples. There always seems to be on in every episode. That is bit over-the-top & makes it looks contrived & cheap. I had already bitched about this.
Guess what. The latest episode AGAIN has an interracial couple. You have to laugh.
But, I am glad Vera is back. Already watched 20 minutes of the new episode. Typical Vera. That is GOOD. The formula works (even with the interracial couples).
