This is one of my pet peeves. ‘Memorial Day‘ is not meant to be a ‘happy holiday‘. I write about this most years. All holidays, by default, don’t have to be happy. Jews understand this real well. Many of their holidays are to commemorate events that were far from happy. We also have ‘Good Friday‘. ‘Happy‘ is NOT an appropriate greeting for Good Friday. It is for ‘Easter‘, 3-days later.
Memorial Day is a day for reflection, remembrance, honor, respect & humility.
I bitched about this 5-years ago (in my now defunct ‘Old Blog’). But, he still persists. Amazing.
