It didn’t take her long — but then again it wasn’t that big & as such have as many pieces. [Nice touch by Lego: they provide BOTH green & orange (i.e., fall color) foliage. How cute. She opted to go with the green (because that better matches the colors in her room).]
Not as fancy as the $400 ‘Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle‘ she got last Christmas — but this is what she wanted this year. The TYPEWRITER was a surprise & she is itching to build it. I want her to do the flowers next ….
So, the 6,020 piece, ‘Hogwarts Castle‘ kit I got for my 15-year old artist, for Christmas, proved to be a HUGE success. Exceeded expectations. It turned out to be spectacular. WOW. WOW. WOW! We all loved it.
Her 16th birthday was in March & I needed a present. I spent 2-weeks, off-&-on during any free time I could muster researching Lego options. Then I saw this. She is into haunted houses & this kit would fit in, perfectly, with the theme she has muraled her room with. So, of course, I got it.
It was a surprise. She had no idea. Yes, it too proved to be a big hit.
She completed it in about 3.5-days, working quite a few hours a day.
It is blinking beautiful. So much detail & it is mechanical — the elevator, that goes all the way to the top of the spire, works. It can even be motorized, with a separate kit, if she wants to do so. For now she wants to keep it hand operated. She doesn’t like electric ‘things’ in her Lego.
Yes, we have a LOT of built Lego kits in the house — & a few that have yet to be built. Those are all mine! I keep on promising myself that I will get to them — after the next book (& the next).
I already know the next Lego kit I am going to be getting her. Not as big as this, but it is pretty fancy. I will, of course, let you know when the time comes.
So, this kit I got for my 15-year old artist, for Christmas, is beyond spectacular. It is HUGE plus the level of detail. WOW. WOW. WOW!
Lego went all out on this — as befits the price. But, I think it is worth every cent, & MORE. So much so that I am seriously thinking of buying another kit! No, not to build — but to keep for posterity, to another generation.
I am sure that Lego will make even bigger & better kits in the coming years, BUT this one seems like a classic.
Yes, I know that folks are now saying that unopened Lego kits are quite the investment. I believe that.
I need to post more pictures. I will do that soon.
For now all I can say is that this kit is AMAZING. Just amazing. I am so glad I bought it.
