As some of you know names intrigue me. That is why I do so many posts about them. {Smile}

I am NOT sure why I had NOT noticed this name before. It isn’t as if I am a stranger to this Memorial in Lubec. This time, for whatever reason, I had decided to read through the lists of names. Then ‘BANG’. First name. WOW. Stopped me dead in my tracks. WOW.

I tried to IMAGINE what life must have been like to go through life with that name. Maybe, kids were ‘nicer’ in those days.

As you can see on the third image above there are still around 325 people in the U.S. with this name.

What were they THINKING when they changed their name to this? WOW.

As far as I can establish there are NO ‘Outhouses’ in Lubec these days. There was a ‘Lulu Outhouse‘ in the 1980s.

Per the 1910 Census A ‘Nellie M. Outhouse‘ (31) lived in ‘Washington Street’ & a ‘Tena S. Outhouse‘ (27) was a boarder at 285 ‘Water Street’. Next time I am in Lubec I will look around.
