Renouncing my Sri Lankan citizenship, in 1983, was one of the best things in my life.
IF I was a citizen today, I would be so, so, so ashamed.
But, ‘they’ can’t help it. Ignorance, really, is at the root of it. The days when Ceylon — the Sri Lanka — was considered an enlightened, progressive society that gave the WORLD its FIRST democratically elected Female Head of State is long gone.
The country is corrupt, beholden to China & totally bankrupt MORALLY & financially.
For the last 5 or 6 years I have had trouble relating to the Sri Lankan cricket team. They have been my LEAST FAVORITE team. I am not kidding. I just can’t relate to them. And of late they have gone for this scruffy, unshaven look. They look like a band of bandits — & they probably are. Don’t they realize that look anything but civilized. Bunch of ‘Veddas’ — & that, really, is an insult to the poor (but good) Veddas who are a decent bunch. (Yes, I have met some real ones in the 1960s.)
That Sri Lanka will NOT show solidarity to BLM is a crying shame.
Every single Sri Lankan living abroad, & that is every Sri Lankans ultimate wish, has experienced racism.
Yes, Sri Lankans are so stupid that they don’t equate themselves with blacks. They think they are superior. Screw them.
I am brown & I support BLM!
Screw Sri Lanka.
I hope they lose every match going forward.
I will be actively rooting for them to FAIL.
And with luck, one of these days, Sri Lanka will become the next Hong Kong. Smile.
