I read yesterday that Google was rolling out Version 100.

I got it this morning. I saw a notice that I should relaunch Chrome & then I got this. I am on Version 100.0.4896.60.

That is COOL. I have been using Chrome for about a decade. I used to be an avid advocate for Firefox. But, eventually I switched. I like Chrome. I am so used to it. I can’t see myself ever being comfortable with another Browser — in my lifetime. SMILE.

I heard about the great, praiseworthy ‘Foxfire Appalachian Heritageproject on the radio (most likely ‘NPR’) a few weeks ago. I made a note to look it up. I (given my eternal fascination with names) was also curious as to how Foxfire related to FireFox.

Way back, c. 2003, I was an early & enthusiastic adopter of FireFox. In those days, anything was better than ‘Internet Explorer’. I was a user & huge advocate of FireFox for at least a decade. Then, like so many, I defected to ‘Chrome’. I kind of think I knew, at some point, that FireFox came from a name for the ‘red panda’ — as depicted in the stylized logo. But, I sure did not remember that till I looked it up again. How many of you remember the red panda connection?

I don’t think I had ever come across the term ‘Foxfire’. I might have seen foxfire, but I can’t be sure.

I sure was impressed with the Foxfire project. That is wonderful. So, that was the purpose of this post. To tell you about Firefox vs Foxfire & draw your attention to the heritage project. I think I have done my job. Over to you.
