‘Garmin‘ & ‘Volvo‘ sure do vye hard to see how is more inept when it comes to software. Weather is now a BIG feature on smartwatches.
They obviously did NOT check weather! Can’t even imagine how that is possible. Poor show.
Glad I am not planning to get a ‘Fenix 8‘ anytime soon. In my old age I have learnt to be patient. I no longer rush to get gadgets as soon as they are announced. I wait for others to shake out the bugs.
Wow. But, I am not happy.
I sold my holdings in Garmin years ago. Glad I did.
I need at least 8 fields of data, in addition to the time & date.
You would think that getting watch faces with 8 data fields will not be a problem. WRONG!
Ironically BOTH watch faces are from the SAME Russian developer. You can, however, pay him (donations) via services of an intermediary (reseller) via PayPal or Stripe. That is good to know.
But, I am NOT getting carried away. I did install this watch face last week — & lost my color customization after 24 hours. So, I have got my fingers crossed. I still have my old face. So, I can always go back.
I will readily admit that it could very well be an AGE THING. For the last 4-years I have always opted for TITANIUM-BLACK (i.e., titanium with a BLACK finish) over titanium-silver. I think (& I could be wrong) that the black radiates more class.
Yes, I am sure young athletes prefer the SILVER & think it looks cool.
Yes, I am sure that there are many who do NOT realize that you can get titanium in black. So they think the only way to ‘boast’ titanium is to have it in silver.
That Amazfit doesn’t do black in any of their ‘premium’ watches is telling. Has to be the demographic they are aiming for. Yes, the cheaper end of the market.
To I, the T-Rex 3, in SILVER, looks CHEAP — & it is sure cheap compared to a ‘Garmin‘ ‘Fenix 8‘. But, it is question of getting what you pay for.
IF Amazfit does do a T-Rex 3 in BLACK, I would check it out. Otherwise, I am NOT interested.
No, I have NOT received anything directly from ‘Garmin‘ per se. But, I have done some digging around.
It is definitely, definitely the global (& sensor) shortage. Garmin has not been immune — &, furthermore, in the scheme of things compared to ‘Apple’, ‘Samsung‘, ‘Huawei’, etc. Garmin is not near the top of the list in terms of priority.
By all means you can keep on hoping that there will be a new Fenix by Christmas. Best of luck. Do NOT promise one to any kids.
It is also likely that the next Fenix, likely to be available around March or April 2022 will be called the ‘Fenix 8‘.
There is sense & precedence for this.
The ‘Enduro’, as many of you know, was basically a Fenix 7. See above chart. Especially with them missing out all of 2021 it makes marketing sense to make it even more ‘exciting’ by going for ‘8’. Garmin will NOT, by a long chalk, be the first to pull this little marketing trick.
So that is the best ‘G2’ I currently have. I don’t make this stuff up. I do dig around & ask questions. This is the best that I have received. Yes, I too am waiting for the next Fenix.
