Not the first fox I have seen this year. This, however, was one I don’t think I have encountered before. Seemed small & young. Curious & bold too.

When we first met him he was running towards us. Took me a second to work out that it was a fox & not a dog. Then, the immediate concern was rabies IF he attacked us. Luckily, for all of us, it stopped. But, it did NOT slink away — not even trot away. Just stood there watching us.

Braxton, our 7-year old Harrier, as is his wont, barked. Did not seem to bother the fox. I think it was a baby. Born a few months ago.

I will keep on eye for him (or her). On one of my main (near daily) walking routes. So, there is a good chance that I will have another encounter. Fingers crossed.
