No airplanes on the ice, most likely because we were in the 40s Fahrenheit & there was a lot of water on the ice.
I think they were coming to visit — even land at — Alton’s renowned ‘Airport on the Ice‘. The airport, from what I can see, was temporarily closed because the temps. were too HOT! There were NO planes.
I saw the two Chinook helicopters while I was still on Route 28. I had no doubts as to where they were heading. So, I proceeded to Alton Bay as well.
As you can see from the photos I had one fly right above me, not that high up. But, that was it. Did NOT see them trying to land or land. They made a wide circle & then flew west fairly high up.
