This is kind of funny — but scary & sad at the same time. They can only do this WITHIN Russia for (quite literally) their own consumption. It doesn’t hold water anywhere else. But, it is brazen. Russia & China, of late, are really stepping up their efforts to annoy & aggravate the West — & that is beyond all these ransomware attacks from Russia.

Within Russia they used to rewrite history. I visited Russia, for 2-weeks, in 1970 on a school trip! [Yes, it was a v. progressive British (private) boarding school, viz. ‘Mill Hill‘.] Went to a museum with this HUGE map of the world as a mural along one wall. It had all these dates & names in Russian. We asked our guides what they said. We were told that those referred to when Soviets ‘conquered’ those spots. So, according to this map, Soviets were the first to ‘conquer’ the two poles & Everest. It was funny. This is another attempt.

Some of you remember that France managed to get a ruling that only sparkling wine from the ‘Champagne’ region of France can be called that. Russia is trying to turn that on its head.
