KDP (i.e., Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing) says 24 to 72 hours to review a submission & if it meets requirements to have the book published & listed on Amazon.

Well, yesterday, KDP published the above eBook, viz. “Bold Coast, Maine — In Two Days or Less“, in less than 3 hours. I was both amazed & delighted. I submitted the book around 5pm and expected that it would get approved sometime this afternoon — i.e., not the full 24 hours, but after about 18 hours.

But, then, I get an e-mail around 8pm to say that it is ALREADY published. It was totally up there, full listing & all. I immediately bought a copy to make sure it was OK. It was fine. I was delighted. WOW.

I think that this very fast publishing is due to 3 reasons:

1/ I had already published the paperback version (& made two updates to it) last week. So, the paperback listing (& hence much of the ‘metadata’ required by Amazon) was already in place. All they had to do was slot the eBook in, next to the paperback.

2/ I am a known entity. I have over 30 books published via KDP on Amazon. So ‘they’ know me.

3/ I, by now, having done so many (including a few for others), know all the ropes. I rarely screw up. I know what they look for & make sure that I am 100% kosher.

So, just letting you know. You can get an eBook up on Amazon within 3 hours — which if you think about it is quite amazing.

3 hours from when you hit SUBMIT on KDP till you can order it, for real, on Amazon.
