I was expecting MORE. We have had some very cold nights — into the low 40sF. That is said to be the trigger for the colors changing. Cold nights.
I think the week or so of cold nights we had, around last week, were atypical.
I saw the first fall colors of 2024 exactly a month ago. So it is not unreasonable to have expected more color.
I did see a map, online, that said peak for central NH was mid-Oct. I am kind of surprised.
I will, of course, as I do every year, keep you updated & posted.

Friday the 13th is ONLY significant IF IT falls in October.
Let me, please, repeat that again:
Only Friday the 13th that fall in October count!
So, a September Friday the 13th, like today, is meaningless.
Period. Full stop.
Full moon, Christmas or whatever has nothing to do with it. Period.
So, Friday the 13th occuring in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, November or December doesn’t count. Just another day.
Has to fall in October.
Repeat, today’s Friday the 13th is inconsequential.
So, we invariably get one at least ONCE a year, sometimes as many as 3 (yes, THREE) — as we did in 2015.
Next October, Friday the 13th will be in
2028
Yes, Friday, October 13th, 2028.
That is worth taking note of. OK? Are we cool? Got this.
Some Additional Comments
The ’13’ really has nothing to do with the supposed thirteen attendees at the ‘Last Supper’ — particularly since there is no consensus, at all (at all), that the ‘Last Supper’ took place on a Friday — that traditionally been the date of the Crucifixion, hence ‘Good Friday‘ at Easter.
The superstition about Fridays the 13th being unlucky really has its roots in Friday, October 13, 1307, when, with the blessing of the French Pope, Clement V, the French King, Philip IV, who was heavily in fiscal debt to the Templar’s (the original international bankers), had most of the Templars in France arrested.
It was a bad day for the Templars — and was really the first major financial crisis in world history.
Hence why people were afraid of Fridays the 13th. They didn’t want a repeat of what happened to the (far from) ‘poor’ Templars.
This fact tends to be forgotten.
Friday the 13th in October happens per a 5 to 6 year cycle with occasional 11-year gaps.
We just had one of those. So, the last 13th in October was 11-years ago, 2006. The next one is 6-years from now.
At 69 I have only lived through 9 ‘Friday the 13th in October‘.
Friday, October 13, 2023 will be my 10th.

I need at least 8 fields of data, in addition to the time & date.
You would think that getting watch faces with 8 data fields will not be a problem. WRONG!
Ironically BOTH watch faces are from the SAME Russian developer. You can, however, pay him (donations) via services of an intermediary (reseller) via PayPal or Stripe. That is good to know.
But, I am NOT getting carried away. I did install this watch face last week — & lost my color customization after 24 hours. So, I have got my fingers crossed. I still have my old face. So, I can always go back.

I heard this getting talked about on ‘BBC News‘ this morning. In particular how the EU does NOT, as yet, have a single trillion-dollar company.
I knew that the ‘magnificent 7‘ was ALL U.S. But, I had not gone onto think about the EU, China, Japan, etc.
25 years ago, I used to point out that Japan had no innovative software companies. All the talent was in the U.S. and the ‘Mag 7‘ came from these U.S. companies that got going in the 1990s.
This is quite the thing if you think about it. It also means that the U.S. has a huge head start when it comes to AI.
Think about this. It is quite the thing.

He ruined the debate for me. He was IMPOTENT & intimidated by ‘Trump‘.
But worse still was always seeing his right hand SHAKING like a leaf. Was that just nerves? If so, he shouldn’t have got the job. I suspect that there is something wrong with him! He better get himself checked.
I also thought he HOGGED most of the questions. From what I ‘counted’ ‘Linsey Davis’ only got to ask about 4 questions. Not good.
As far as I was concerned the two ABC moderators were pathetic. Ineffective. They let Trump hog the mike. Poor show.

Way to GO Chris. Super cool.
I like Chris — despite him being a Republican. He, as far as I am concerned, is a good, fairly decent, reasonable & pragmatic Republican.
I would have VOTED for him as U.S. President. I said that, here, publicly. He would make a good President — definitely better than ‘Trump‘.
Well, maybe he will run in 2028.
He is a regular guy. I like that about him.

Funny thing this. I had gone to a ‘Cinde Warmington’ ‘rally’ last November & had even spoken with her. My first reaction was that she was impressive. I even considered campaigning for her. BUT then as months passed and we moved into mid-2024 I started having doubts about her. She just did NOT seem to be cutting in — especially not against ‘Kelly Ayotte’, who is going to be formidable.
I have never seen Joyce Craig other than fleetingly on TV. But, I know she was mayor of ‘Manchester‘. From where I sit you don’t get elected mayor of that ‘tough’ City unless you have some real mettle. I can’t explain it, but she clicks with I.
So, I am GLAD. I hope she can win …. I HOPE.
