This is about (my beloved) ‘Navajo‘ & set in Navajo country (i.e., Arizona & New Mexico).
I think I had tried to watch this 2 years ago and had given up in disgust.
Well, this time around, a couple of days ago, I could only stomach 40 minutes.
It is SO UNREAL, inauthentic that it is sickening. Disgusting.
I have spent a lot of time with Navajo, on their reservations (multiple days at a time), since 1983.
This is supposed to be set in Navajo land in the 1970s. COME ON.
All the Navajo are so well dressed and all their dwellings are so spick-and-span! Come on. This is what Hollywood thinks. This is not reality.
We still have a lot of poverty and hardship among Navajo.
This is a very poor and bad representation.
THEN THE LAST STRAW!
They had a supposed Navajo referring to their sacred canyon as ‘Canyon de CHELLY‘. Chelly is how it is SPELLED. It is called Canyon de-SHAY. de-Shay. de-Shay.
Never, never, never Chelly.
That was it. I was LIVID.
Don’t watch this garbage.

I had never heard of ‘Huffman Prairie‘. Like most I believed that the ‘Wright brothers‘ had done all of their groundbreaking flying at ‘Kitty Hawk‘.
Despite my lifelong love of airplanes and aviation, I knew next to nothing about the Wright brothers. So, last week I decided to rectify that my listening, on ‘Audible‘, to ‘The Wright Brothers‘ by ‘David McCullough‘.
That is how I came to learn about this field, which does, indeed, deserve more publicity and fame (thought it appears that the cognoscenti have done all that is appropriate to memorialize it). But, I wanted to make sure YOU heard about it. Now you have. Check it out. Rather neat.

Yes, I got to take part in the GRAND ENTRY — on day 1. Wow. Who would have thought.
This was spur of the moment. I had not, for an instance, thought I would be in the Grand Entry — not being part of the Tribe, let alone a native.
I had got myself a prime chair, front row, in the main viewing tent, in the shade. I was all set to sit there & take pictures.
Then a series of announcements came over the PA that they were 4 flag bearers SHORT. I was kind of surprised. I had never seen this has having been an issue in any of the many pow wows I had attended.
They kept on calling for volunteers …
They got one. They still needed three. It was getting close to noon — the scheduled opening time. So, I decided to see IF they wanted me.
Not only were they happy to have me, they gave me a TRIBAL FLAG to carry. I declined. That would NOT have been right.
I agreed to carry the ‘Every Child Matters’ flag. I was entitled to carry that, & I could relate.
It was quite the HONOR. WOW.
At 4pm, that afternoon, I had to go back to carry the flag off. WOW.

Right now the strike is less than 48-hours old. So not that much harm done. But if it goes on for a week, we, in the US, could start feeling some pain. If it impacts the supply chain much, as it has the potential to do, it WILL spike up INFLATION AGAIN — just as the Fed finally decides to start lowering interest rates. That is not going to be good.
I am HOPING that the Fed is keeping a CLOSE EYE on this.
If the strike is resolved by early next week, it wouldn’t be an issue.
So, I am just letting you know.
Keep an eye on this strike.
