Torn As To Whether I Will Get The Newly Released ‘Garmin’ ‘Fenix 8’. I Probably Will — But In 7 Months.

There is NOTHING compelling in the Fenix 8 from my perspective. I will not use my watch to make/take phone calls.

My 2-year old EPIX Gen 2 (touch wood) is working OK.

My biggest HESITATION is the time it takes me to CUSTOMIZE a new Garmin exactly to my needs. That can take days! And I don’t have the time.

So, that is my excuse.

I will have finished my NEXT book by March/April next year. I will then REWARD myself (as I like to do) with a Fenix 8. Makes sense to me. SMILE.

The good news is that this but temporary.

Yesterday, upon seeing the ‘… infrequent basis …‘ message I immediately e-mailed ‘Gabriel Chow‘, the Canadian IT whiz that owns & runs GCatholic. [We have been e-mail ‘friends’ for over a decade.]

I got reply back quite quickly. HE IS FINE. All good. All cool. Just involved with something else right now. I know how that goes. So, not a problem. Not an issue.

So, this is just a hiatus. He will be back. BUT in the meantime do NOT rely on GCatholic for the latest news … especially deaths. Check ‘Catholic-Hierarchy‘ instead.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Who knew? Certainly NOT I. The infamous gunfight at the ‘O.K. Corral’ was a mere episode in a much more complex and complicated saga — involving the aftermath of the Civil War, U.S. railroads, ‘Wells Fargo‘, U.S Presidents and U.S. politics. This was a tour de force HISTORY LESSON. Kids should be shown this in school to get them hooked on history.

I was NOT expecting what I got from this miniseries. I thought it would just be a ‘bang-bang‘ ‘you-are-dead‘ cowboy series. There was so, so much more. I learnt so much. I was riveted.

Beautifully produced. Bravo. One of THE BEST. Must watch.

The pope, quite literally, is all talk and no trousers.

Why doesn’t he accept a few thousand migrants, both to help them and ease the pressure of the beleaguered European nations. He has got plenty of space at the Vatican & Castel Gandolfo.

The Vatican has lots of empty building. They also both have enormous gardens well suited for temporary ‘camp’ sites.

So, come on pope, stop lecturing others. Let’s see some action on your part.

‘Nvidia’ & Its Stock (NVDA) Reminds Me So Much Of ‘Cisco’ (CSCO) From 23-Years Ago. Déjà Vu?

I guess most of today’s market commentator’s aren’t old enough to remember Cisco. I am old enough plus I was very intimately associated with Cisco in its glory days. So, yes, I owned CSCO ahead of 2000 and into around 2004. So YES I saw it spike up & come crashing down.

Cisco was the DARLING of the emerging Web. Just like Nvidia is the DARLING of the AI brigade. Cisco could do no wrong. It totally dominated Internet networking. Cisco was the king of routers.

And then it crashed. In the last two decades it has clawed itself back into the market. But, its stock price, even today, is basically 1/2 what it was at its high.

NVDA reminds me of this.

Did I learn from CSCO. Heck no. I rode CSCO up and was too scared to sell. Ditto NVDA. This is why I am poor. I don’t know when to sell. SMILE. But, I am used to being poor.

I heard about this TB ‘crisis’ in India, multiple times over the last 2 days, on ‘BBC News‘ (which I listen to 4-5 times a day).

I had no idea that TB was an ongoing issue in India.

I thought we all were, more or less across the globe, vaccinated against it — though I do realize the vaccine is not 100% effective.

Wow. Quite the thing.

Multiple times, over my life, U.S. doctors have speculated that I might have TB. They were wrong each & every time. I was vaccinated, in Ceylon, as a baby.

Wanted to bring this to YOUR notice. Stuff we don’t get in the U.S. media.

I got a Facebook ad. for this coin for $480! Wow. I thought it was minted by the U.S. mint. No so. Minted in/by Barbados.

Very cool. I guess minted for collectors rather than for actual circulation.

Not sure whether it sells, anywhere, for $5 (Barbados) –> i.e., $2.48 in REAL MONEY!

The cheapest I have seen it, so far, on the Web is ~$380.

3 oz of silver, per today’s spot price, will be U.S. $90. So that is quite the markup.

Wow.

COOL, but I am not interested. I am weaning myself away from buying any new collectibles.
