Given that I grew up in Britain I am both partial and used to British news. Thus, as some of you know, I read the U.K. ‘Daily Mail’, online, multiple times a day. It is my PRIMARY source of news, ahead of CNN & CNBC.

I also listen to the BBC news, multiple times a day, on ‘Sirius XM‘. Being able to get multiple news sources is one of the key reasons why I subscribe to Sirius.

I heard the ant story yesterday, and the rhino one today. It was NEAT. I wanted to share them with you. Now YOU know. OK? SMILE.

Well at least in 2024 the Brits can have a real SNAPPY answer when they get asked by Americans as to how they would be celebrating the ‘4th of July’.

Pretty special. Obviously, it is just another day in Britain. Not special. Most Brits wouldn’t even know of the 4th of July. It is not an important day in British history — though you could, of course, argue that it should be.

Well, this year they have an answer.

I am envious of them. They have two fairly decent candidates!

The 2nd graphic above tells of MY 4th of July in 1985.

I have, over the years, got a LOT of mileage from this story.

I am 100% sure that this happens even today, even MORE SO. I am convinced that less & less Americans know & appreciate their history.

I have learnt, the HARD WAY,
that there is LIFE outside of Amazon.

Everyone eventually has a breaking point.

There will be a straw that breaks the camel’s back.

For the last 10 years, if not more, I did 97% of all my shopping online, on Amazon.

I loved the convenience. It save me TIME. I never CHECKED whether it was saving me money. I blindly bought from Amazon. Not so anymore.

Amazon is NOT what it used to be.

Too much SCAMMING going on.

On June 1 I cancelled PRIME — which I had had for over 20 years & later in the month I cancelled my Amazon STORE CARD.

I can’t stop shopping at Amazon altogether. I can only get MY BOOKS through Amazon. SMILE. That is OK.

That is the only tricky part to this. July 4th fireworks on July 3rd — in Alton. But, we in Alton are used to that. SMILE.

Wolfeboro has theirs on July 4th. So, that is easy enough.

Weather should not be an issue on either night. Enjoy.

Delighted To See ‘Rotary International’ Taking The Lead In Packing Foam Recycling.

This is wonderful. This packing foam recycling BIN appeared at our recycling center a couple of weeks ago. But, until today, I had NOT noticed that it was a ‘Rotary International‘ initiative. That made me very happy & proud.

Though I am, YET AGAIN, (temporarily) NOT a Rotarian — Rotary is dear to my heart. I just need to find another Club that doesn’t try to force me into PRAYING! Smile.

Not sure which Club is doing this, but it looks like a Global project. This is wonderful.

It always bothered me that we couldn’t recycle packing foam. Seemed such a waste. I always kept some at home because the thought of throwing it away seemed wrong.

Now, thanks to Rotary we have a great solution. Bravo, Rotary. Thank YOU, Rotary. I am so proud of you.

I am NOT thrilled with his politics, BUT I totally applaud his age. That is wonderful.

He is TOO YOUNG to be a Catholic Bishop in France & of course a U.S. Senator let alone President. But, it is good to have young blood like this.

At 28 you don’t have enough life experience BUT you feel invincible. We could do with some youthful vigor like that.

Yes, as with the U.S., France has major illegal immigration issues. I am ALL IN FAVOR of that being stamped out. This is what happens when liberals go unchecked.

I am watching this, i.e., what is happening in France, with great interest. I wish him all the best. Bravo.
